Email Fraud Warning

Please be advised that we have had several reports of people receiving emails, issued by fraudsters, using the Kleinwort Benson name.  These emails claim to come from a senior staff member at Kleinwort Benson who wants your assistance to transfer money out of a Dormant account held with us.

These emails tend to originate from outside of the UK and are mailed out en masse using randomly generated email addresses.  They are more commonly known as Advance Fee Frauds or Section 419 scams and the aim of them is to get you to part with large sums of money up front with the promise of a share of the funds mentioned in return. Our compliance department are aware of several versions of these emails circulating at  present and unfortunately we are powerless to stop them.  Should you receive such an email, we would urge you to delete it immediately and not to respond in any way to the sender of the email as this may encourage further so called ’phishing’ emails to be sent to you.
